With a background in local authority child protection work and practice teaching, he joined SACCS in 1997 where he developed the Life Story process, a major part of the SACCS Recovery Programme.
Richard teaches and lectures internationally, he provides professional consultancy throughout the UK. Richard has published a number of papers on improving outcomes for traumatised children and is author of 'The Child’s Own Story: Life Story Work with Traumatised Children', part of the SACCS 'Delivering Recovery' series published by Jessica Kingsley.
Richard is currently working with Local Authorities and independent commissioners providing assessment, direct work and consultancy for complex children and family cases. He also provides expert witness statements on behalf of family courts for traumatised children, life story work and therapeutic child care.
