Admissions

Following an initial enquiry to SACCS, basic information about the child's background and needs will be requested. This information will be matched against the criteria for placement ensuring the suitability of the service in meeting the child's needs.

As a means of promoting best practice, it is SACCS policy that no child placement will be offered unless a comprehensive pre-admission assessment and Impact risk assessment is undertaken which will determine:

1. Whether SACCS is able to meet the referred child's needs

2. The most appropriate home for the child

The above services are free of charge and without obligation and will be facilitated by the Head of Placement Services.

SACCS recognises that important relationships may well have been made within previous placements; therefore we will be seeking support and cooperation from current and previous carers to aid the assessment process and ultimately enable a positive move to SACCS.

Before any child is admitted to SACCS appropriate key personnel from within the Recovery Team will be identified consisting: Home Manager, Key Carer, Therapist, and Life Story Worker. This integrated team will be responsible for drawing up the child's joining plan and creating the Individual Recovery Treatment Programme.

Although the admission process is comprehensive we aim to achieve placement within a maximum of two weeks from the completion of the assessment. Always with the child's best interest being kept paramount.
