Mary Walsh Institute, in partnership with the North East Wales Institute (University of Wales) have developed and currently delivers the SACCS/NEWI Foundation Degree in Therapeutic Child Care. This degree meets the new advice from the recently published Green Paper on Care Matters and has been delivered to our therapeutic care employees over the last year. NEWI and the Mary Walsh Institute will offer the foundation degree to care providers who wish their workforce to develop and achieve a worthwhile qualification in their profession from September 2007.
Currently the Mary Walsh Institute and Liverpool Hope University are developing an MA in Therapeutic Child Care which will have an International flavour to the study. This MA will be available to all from September 2007 onwards.
Our partnership with our academic colleagues has proved to be engaging, resourceful and empowering, for the Institute and for the professionals we work with.
