Working for SACCS

At SACCS we are looking for the ‘best’ – to match the service we deliver to the children in our care.

We understand the difficult nature of the work and that is why we offer our staff a second-to-none training and support package to enable our therapeutic practitioners deliver recovery to our children.

Successful applicants will embark upon a two-year Foundation Degree (attached to the University of Wales) in Therapeutic Parenting consisting:

  • Year One - Basic Induction
    NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care; 24 bespoke SACCS Recovery workshops;

  • Year Two
you will attend 6 external lectures and complete the accompanying assignments – all of which is underpinned by completing a personal and professional development journal to enhance and develop your reflective practice.

Practical training is on-going in the homes and you will be given support in the form of supervision and team meetings with our external consultant.

No one at SACCS underestimates the challenging nature of the role, and that is why we endeavour to provide the very best for our care workers so that you can provide the very best for our children.

Equal Opportunities

We oppose all forms of discrimination on grounds of racial origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, social class or any other classification.

Culture and Racial Issues

We are committed to a pro-active approach to anti-racism and promote a culture in the organisation where diversity is respected and celebrated.

We strive to create an environment where differences in back ground belief or racial origin are respected and celebrated in our children, their families, our staff, our colleagues and the community.

We endeavour to develop and maintain strong links with local religious and cultural organisations to enable the children we care for to maintain their cultural and religious identities and to worship as they wish.

Testimonials

Gordon Griffiths - Home Manager

Having spent 11 years in childcare, I was heartened in 2004 to join SACCS Care. This is a company which I feel most closely reflects my own philosophy of therapeutic child care. The focus of the work is holistically on meeting the needs of the child, and it is good to see the children in my home and across all of the SACCS homes flourish and develop in a positive way.

I have found my time here as a Home Manager in turn rewarding, challenging and enlightening. There is always something new to learn and I have been supported well in my career development. I very much enjoy helping my team to develop and grow as practitioners and thank them for all they have given, and continue to give, to the children we nurture.

Roger Crump - Residential Care Worker

I commenced employment with SACCS Care Limited in May 2005, having spent 26 years as a civil servant and desperately in need of a new challenge!

I still remember those early days vividly. The phrase 'a fish out of water' readily springs to mind, but I needn't have worried. The support I received from my manager and colleagues was first class; something that still prevails today. Everyone was so helpful and made me feel welcome.

My training began immediately and covered a wide range of skills to thoroughly prepare me to carry out my role as a residential care worker. These courses were informative but also presented in an enjoyable, user-friendly style. I am pleased to say that courses and training continue to ensure that I am always able to improve my knowledge and practice.

Coupled with training in SACCS is commitment to regular fortnightly supervision with either my manager or deputy manager. This allows for dialogue to discuss any issues that may arise in the course of my role. That said, it is reassuring to know that my manager and deputy's door is always open, so I never have to save problems up.

At the heart of all the training, meetings and support, are the children that I help care for; young people who have suffered when they should have been enjoying their childhood. They have provided the real joy of working for SACCS. They have given me the variety and challenge that I was seeking. No, it isn't always easy, but if it were then they wouldn't be children would they?

I enjoy preparing them for their days and sharing in their experiences, be it at school or on weekends, holidays or activities. I enjoy sharing their highs and being there for them in their lows, to support and encourage them to change and grow as they move through childhood and develop a better understanding of past experiences. It has given me more satisfaction than I could have imagined, and a better understanding of myself and others both young and old.
