About Us

Mission Statement

We are committed to being the very best in delivering recovery for traumatised children.

SACCS began in 1987, as a service offering specialist expertise in working with children who had been sexually abused, at a time when there was a lot of professional anxiety about the emergence of this issue. We were initially offering individual assessment and therapy for abused children; case consultancy to local authorities on complex situations; expert witness service to the courts and communicating with children training courses for other professionals based on our pioneering techniques on work with children.

In 1991 SACCS opened its first therapeutic home in Shrewsbury under the name of Leaps and Bounds. 2003 saw the opening of our second regional centre in Tamworth, we now have 13 homes across the Midlands offering a coherent integrated model of working with these children, based on an outcomes approach.

SACCS Family Placement Service opened in 1995 to meet the needs of children moving on from our residential homes, and who would need considerable support as they made the transition in a family.

Our aim has always been to give children a voice and to help prepare them for the future. Our work is dedicated to helping children recover from the trauma imposed on them, and we recognise that for this to happen, the right combination of love, understanding, appropriate boundaries and therapeutic care is necessary.

SACCS was established in 1987 and initially our work was focused on children who had experienced sexual abuse. We have now evolved to offer a much broader range of childcare services, supported by a committed team of highly skilled professionals.

In addition to our services for children, we have also dedicated ourselves to promoting the knowledge and skills of a wide range of professionals who hold the welfare of children in their hands, with an integrated programme of training and development, and the organisation continues to be innovative. We pioneered the creative use of toys, art, books and stories in communicating with children.

Over the years, SACCS has developed into a leading provider of childcare services by recognising that the child's needs always come first.

Vision

We will be the driving force ensuring that traumatised children will have the right to recover from their injuries.

We will influence the future of these children for the better not just in this country but all over the world.

We will use our knowledge, skills and understanding to work with communities, to teach, to publish and reach out over the internet. I can see a progressively healthy society where we can protect our children and value them, so that children - our future - our legacy will be able to be free from the fear of abuse.
