Admissions
Following an initial enquiry to SACCS basic information about the child's background and needs will be requested. This information will be matched against the criteria for placement ensuring the suitability of the service in meeting the child's needs.
As a means of promoting best practice, SACCS conduct a no obligation, free of charge, comprehensive preadmission assessment. This will be facilitated by the Deputy Director of SACCS placements.
SACCS recognise that important relationships may well have been made within previous placements; therefore we will be seeking support and cooperation with previous carers to aid the assessment process and ultimately enable a positive move to SACCS.
Before any child is admitted to SACCS appropriate key personnel from within the Recovery Team will be identified consisting: Home Manager Key Carer, Therapist, and Life Story Worker. This integrated team will be responsible for the drawing up the child's joining plan and creating the Individual Recovery Treatment Programme.
Although the admission process is comprehensive we aim to achieve placement within a maximum of two weeks from the initial enquiry. Always with the child's best interest being kept paramount.
Preadmission Assessment Process
No child placement at SACCS will be offered unless a comprehensive preadmission assessment has been completed.
Once a referral is accepted a Required Information check list is sent out detailing which LAC and other professional reports should be made available. In addition to the required information, interviews with appropriate professionals involved with the child’s case will be requested.
At all stages of the process the referring Local Authority are encouraged to be fully involved with the process. It is further expected that as part of the assessment process appropriate Local Authority personnel visit SACCS prior to the agreement of placement.
Once the Assessment has been concluded a formal written decision will be offered as to whether SACCS can meet the needs of the referred child.
If a placement is made/accepted then a carefully considered joining plan is drawn up in negotiation with the child’s Social Worker, Current carers and the SACCS Home Manager.
