Assessment
No child placement at SACCS will be offered unless a comprehensive preadmission assessment has been completed.
Once a referral is accepted a Required Information check list is sent out detailing which LAC and other professional reports should be made available. In addition to the required information interviews with appropriate professionals involved with the child's case will be requested.
At all stages of the process the referring Local Authority are encouraged to be fully involved with the process. It is further expected that as part of the assessment process appropriate Local Authority personnel visit SACCS prior to the agreement of placement.
Once the Assessment has been concluded a formal written decision will be offered as to whether SACCS can meet the needs of the referred child.
If a placement is made/accepted then a carefully considered joining plan is drawn up in negotiation with the child's Social Worker, Current carers, SACCS Home Manager.
Once a referral is made, papers describing the child’s history are provided by the referring authority. This information is considered carefully at SACCS before a decision of suitability is made.
If it is decided that the referral is suitable, a referral assessment will be arranged. This will include:
- An in depth reading through all relevant recorded information on the child
- Interviews with all relevant family members and professionals involved with the child
- Meetings with the child and visits by the child to SACCS
At the end of the assessment a decision is made whether we can meet the needs of the referred child in a way that is compatible with the needs of the current children living in the home. If this is agreed, then plans are made for the admission of the child into the home.
