SACCS has commissioned an independent longitudinal study into all the children in it's current and previous care since it began it's residential provision in 1991. The one year correlational research study will involve observations, data analyisis and interviews over the duration of our operation.
The longitudinal study will also examine developmental trends across spectrum of children we have cared for – in essence looking at their level's long term recovery.
The reason for a longitudinal study is that unlike cross-sectional studies, longitudinal studies track the same people, and therefore the differences observed in those people are less likely to be the result of cultural differences across generations. This then gives SACCS a more comprehensive understanding of the recovery process over time.
